Group camping

Explore National Trust campsites ready to welcome your organised group, with dedicated spaces for group tents in locations surrounded by glorious views and outdoor adventure for every level of challenge.

We have lots of great campsite options for organised groups, from schools and Duke of Edinburgh to walking groups, and will work with your designated camp leader to plan your stay.

Brownsea Island Campsite was home to the first ever Scout camp in 1907 and is forever connected to the movement, or you might choose to be near Eryri's (Snowdon's) Watkin Path, Scafell Pike, Kinder Scout or Wastwater.

Camping at Brownsea Island Campsite, Dorset

Brownsea Island Campsite 

This island campsite is near the beach, surrounded by thriving habitats in a spot famous for red squirrels. It was home to the first Scout camp in 1907, and it's the country's only SCENES - Scout Centre of Excellence for Nature, Environment and Sustainability - and is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a National Nature Reserve. It offers a traditional camping experience for up to 60 group campers in a designated area with an equipped field kitchen, near the facilities. You'll need to travel light and take the ferry across to Brownsea Island. South Shore Lodge bunkhouse (sleeps 12) and St Mark's Bothy (sleeps five) are near and can be booked together.

Lake District camping

You can walk between three of our Lakes campsites - Great Langdale, then Eskdale and on to Wasdale, with a day of walking between each one in good weather. Each site has small campsite shop with camping essentials, hot drinks and light snacks.

Eskdale Campsite 

This campsite is surrounded by trails, with walks to small mountain lakes and along the River Esk and up to Stanley Ghyll Force, a 60-foot waterfall in a deep gorge. It's a great base for smaller groups of up to 15 campers who don't need additional tents for catering.

Great Langdale Campsite 

This campsite in the dramatic Langdale valley is surrounded by a natural playground of trails, summits, waterfalls and small lakes. It has a separate area for organised groups of up to 40 campers.

Low Wray Campsite 

This campsite is on the edge of Windermere, England's largest lake. It has dedicated group camping areas, plenty of parking for larger vehicles, storage for canoes, kayaks and trailers, and lake access including a boat launch area for small sail boats..

Wasdale Campsite 

This campsite is a mile from Wastwater, near Scafell Pike, England's tallest mountain. It's a great base for smaller groups of up to 15 campers who don't need additional tents for catering.

Upper Booth Farm Campsite 

This campsite is on the Pennine Way, and you can walk to Kinder Scout, the tallest peak in the Peak District, or iconic Mam Tor.

Camping on the South West coast

Highertown Farm Campsite, Cornwall

Highertown Farm Campsite 

This relaxed campsite is near the South West Coast Path and quiet beach at Lansallos Cove.

Teneriffe Farm Campsite 

This coastal campsite is on the Lizard Peninsular near the coast path. You can walk to the most southerly tip of mainland Britain and its wildlife watchpoint.

This meadow campsite has walks inland to the Purbeck hills or to Chapman's Pool on the Jurassic Coast.

Cloud Farm Campsite 

This laid-back, riverside campsite is surrounded by walks in the Lorna Doone Valley.

Camping in Wales

The camping fields at Gupton Farm Campsite, Pembrokeshire

Gupton Farm Campsite 

This campsite is by the big-surf beach at Freshwater West, near the coast path and trails through wetland habitats. With three large fields and communal areas to gather, Gupton Farm has capacity for 50 tents as well as five campervan pitches and a surf lodge sleeping ten.

Hafod y Llan Campsite 

This campsite is just below the Watkin Path at the base of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). It's an eight-mile walk to the summit and back.

Bunkhouses for group stays

New - Watkin Bunkhouse, in the foothills of Eryri (Snowdonia) 

This spacious bunkhouse is right on the Watkin Path, leading to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) for a challenging 8 mile walk there and back. It has all the facilities you need for a walking weekend or holiday, including a woodburner in the shared sitting room, a kitchen and dining room, and a drying room with storage lockers.
